Sarah
Barber, mezzo-soprano, sings the role of Orfeo in Orfeo
ed Euridice, following her West Bay Opera
debut as title role in Carmen.
Ms. Barber has performed with Central City Opera,
Des Moines Metro Opera, Opera Theatre of the Rockies,
Opera Fort Collins, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra,
and the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, among others.
Her roles include Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus),
Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors), Mary
Stone (The Devil and Daniel Webster),
the Witch (Hänsel und Gretel),
Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Second Secretary
(Nixon in China), Marcellina (Le nozze
di Figaro), Dame Quickly (Falstaff),
and Paquette (Candide). Her concert work
includes the 2007 world-premiere of Alexandra Eddy’s
chamber opera Arion.
Ms. Barber’s awards include two-time Regional
Finalist for the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and three-time
prize-winner in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild’s
Competition. She has apprenticed with Des Moines Metro
Opera and Central City Opera, and holds degrees from
the University of Northern Iowa and CU Boulder. A resident
of Colorado, she also performs regularly with the Central
City Opera Ensemble and the trio Enchanted Evening. |
