Alex Britton, baritone, makes his West Bay Opera debut singing
the roles of Alfio in Cavalleria
rusticana and Tonio/Taddeo in Pagliacci.
Mr. Britton’s operatic roles include Figaro and the Count
(Le nozze di Figaro), Germont (La traviata), Melchior
(Amahl and the Night Visitors), Leporello and the title
role in Don Giovanni, Father (Hansel and Gretel),
Iago (Otello), Pizzaro (Fidelio), Count di Luna
(Il trovatore), and the title roles in Don Pasquale and Gianni
Schicci. He has sung leading roles with Opera Salamanca, Spain,
Aspen Opera Theatre, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Chelsea Opera, NY,
One World Symphony, and Teatro de las Artes in Medellin, Colombia.
He debuted the role of Anselmo in San Diego Repertory Theater’s
world premier of the bilingual opera, Burning Dreams.
A native
of Colombia, Mr. Britton has produced, designed, performed, and
directed over 300 operas. He is Artistic Director of El Dorado Opera
in southern California, a company he co-founded with his father and
sister. He created The Sevilla Project to translate into Spanish
the most famous operas set in Seville, Spain. |
