Douglas
Nagel, bass-baritone, sings the title role in Der
fliegende Holländer. He made his
California debut with West Bay Opera as Horace Tabor (The
Ballad of Baby Doe), where he has sung the title
roles in Eugene Onegin and Don Pasquale,
and Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Count Almaviva (The
Marriage of Figaro), Marcello (La bohème),
and Trulove (The Rake’s
Progress).
A Montana native, Mr. Nagel has sung with
Opera San José, Opera Idaho,
Santa Barbara Grand Opera, Eugene Opera, Arizona Opera, Greater Buffalo Opera,
The Western Slope Summer Music Festival (CO), and Bear Valley Music Festival
(CA). His repertoire includes Scarpia, Don Giovanni, Don Pasquale, Germont, Dutchman,
Magnifico, Dr. Bartolo, Sharpless, Onegin, and Wotan. He sang the role of John
the Baptist (Salome) in his European debut in Germany, and with Opera
Columbus, Virginia Opera, and The Opera Company of Philadelphia. His Count Orlock
(Dracula) in the world premiere of Henderson’s Nosferatu at the
Rimrock Opera was recently released on CD. Other recent singing engagements include
Thomas Putman (The Crucible) at Opera San José and Frank
(Die Fledermaus)at Sacramento Opera.
Mr. Nagel is General Director at
the Rimrock Opera, Billings, Montana, and directed Così fan
tutte for WBO last May. |
