Donna Olson, mezzo-soprano, sings the role of Mary in Der
fliegende Holländer. Previous roles with West
Bay Opera include Mamma Lucia (Cavalleria
rusticana), Mrs. Peachum (The
Threepenny Opera), and Ulrica (Un
ballo in maschera).
Ms. Olson has performed with opera companies of Portland, Boston,
Nevada, Sacramento, Berkeley, San José, Eugene, Sierra,
Stockton, and Martinez, as well as Pocket Opera, Opera Idaho, Washington
East Opera, and Mendocino Music Festival, in Jenufa, Carmen, L’enfant
et les sortilèges, The Magic Flute, La
traviata, The Marriage of Figaro, Rigoletto, Werther, The
Tales of Hoffman, The Daughter of the Regiment, Die
Fledermaus, La finta giardiniera, Amahl and the
Night Visitors, Die Meistersinger, Falstaff, Vashti, and Faust. As
an Opera San José Resident Artist, she sang the roles of
Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Siébel (Faust),
Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Meg (Falstaff),
Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Suzuki (Madama
Butterfly), and Rosette (Manon). Her upcoming roles
include Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro) with the Mendocino
Music Festival and Sacramento Opera. A native of Boston, Ms. Olson was a Metropolitan Opera District
finalist. She teaches voice at her Berkeley and Sacramento studios. |
