Gerald
Seminatore, tenor, sings the role of the Steersman in Der
fliegende Holländer, following his West Bay Opera
debut as Tom Rakewell in The
Rake’s Progress.
Mr. Seminatore’s operatic career began with an apprentice artist
engagement at the Santa Fe Opera and Glimmerglass Opera. He was a member
of the solo ensemble at Germany’s Dortmund Opera, and has also
been a guest artist at Frankfurt Opera, Bremen Opera, and Kaiserlautern’s
Pfalztheater. He has sung many professional principal and comprimario
roles, including Die Lustige Weiber von Windsor (Nicolai), The
House of the Dead (Janaceck), Idomeneo, Pagliacci, The
Merry Widow, La vie parisienne, Susannah, Ariadne auf Naxos,
and Sweeney
Todd. Most recently, he appeared as Peter Quint in The Turn
of the Screw with the Oakland Opera Theatre.
Mr. Seminatore holds
the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati.
He is currently a member of the music faculty at California State University,
Fullerton. |
