Raeeka Shehabi-Yaghmai, mezzo-soprano, sings the role of Lola
in Cavalleria rusticana,
following her West Bay Opera debut as Polina
in The
Queen of Spades.
Ms. Shehabi-Yaghmai sang the roles of Mrs. Page (The Merry
Wives of Windsor) with Bear Valley Music Festival, Hansel
(Hansel and Gretel) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni)
with Eldorado Opera, and made her European debut in Romania singing
the title role in Carmen. She sang Suzuki (Madama
Butterfly) with San Francisco Lyric Opera, Vera Boronel
(The Consul) with North Bay Opera, Mother (Amahl
and the Night Visitors) with Solo Opera, and the title roles
in Iolanthe with the Lamplighters and La Périchole with
Pocket Opera. Other roles include Poppea, Dorabella, Cherubino,
Nancy (Albert Herring), and Dinah (Bernstein, Trouble
in Tahiti).
Ms. Shehabi-Yaghmai has been a soloist in Mozart’s Coronation
Mass,
Haydn’s Mass for Prince Nicolai, and Bach’s Magnificat.
She performed Mahler’s Songs of the Wayfarer as the winner of
the CSUN annual concerto competition, and Cliff Eidelman’s Wedding
in the Night Garden at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
