Jonathan Smucker

Line

JonathanJonathan Smucker, tenor, sings the role of Beppe/Arleccino in Pagliacci, following his West Bay Opera debut as Raoul St. Briche and Camille de Rosillon in The Merry Widow.

Mr. Smucker recently sang Ralph Rackstraw (HMS Pinafore) with Lamplighters Music Theatre, Dionysus (Harrison, Young Caesar) with Ensemble Parallèle, and Nanki-Poo (The Mikado) with Livermore Valley Opera. Other credits include Camille (The Merry Widow) with Lamplighters, Simon Stimson (Rorem, Our Town) at the Aspen Music Festival, Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress) with Oakland Opera Theater, and Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola) with BASOTI, as well as appearances with Pocket Opera, Cinnabar Theater, San Francisco Lyric Opera, and the Isny Opera Festival in Germany. On the concert stage, he has sung Obadiah (Elijah), Evangelist and soloist in Bach’s Johannes-Passion, and the solos in Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and Handel’s Messiah.

A native of Zoar, Ohio, Mr. Smucker earned a BM, MM, and Postgraduate Diploma from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he sang the title roles in Albert Herring and Acis and Galatea.
