Madeline Abel-Kerns
While living in Germany, Madeline Abel-Kerns performed the Mozart
Requiem and Händel's Judas Maccabeus with the
Hessische Rundfunk Frankfurt, the Kön Kammerorchester, and the
Deutsche-Amerikanische Chor, in addition to making several opera-concert
tours to Switzerland and Nassau, Bahamas. Moving to Ashland, Oregon, in
1991, she produced, directed, and performed over thirty concerts, operas,
and musical revues for Rogue Opera, OSF, Camelot Theatre, ASCO, Medford Arts
Commission, and SOSC. In 1995 Ms. Abel-Kerns returned to San Francisco
to reprise roles which she premiered for Pocket Opera in 1985-88, and to
direct three productions this season. She was recently selected by the
San Francisco Concerto Orchestra for a 1997, all-Wagner concert tour.
Her favorite roles include Tosca, Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera,
Leonora in Il Trovatore, Santuzza, Sieglinde, Ariadne and Kostelnichka.
Tosca marks Ms. Abel-Kerns' debut with West Bay Opera.
