Francisco Almanza

Mexican Tenor Francisco Almanza is a graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. He most recently appeared as Alfredo in Western Opera Theater's production of La traviata. Other operatic roles include Rodolfo in La bohème and Don Basilio in The Marriage of Figaro for Rice Opera Theater, Luigi (cover) in Puccini's Il tabarro for Sarasota Opera, Martin in Copland's The Tender Land for Opera Maine, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte for Nevada Opera Studio, and Don José in Carmen for the Merola Opera Program and Western Opera Theater. Mr. Almanza is also at home in oratorio, having appeared in such works as Carmina Burana, Messiah, and Haydn's The Creation for The Shepherd School Symphony and Houston Oratorio Society, and Mendelssohn's Elijah for Houston's Masterworks Chorus. Mr. Almanza has participated in the Chautauqua Opera Studio and the Houston Opera Studio.
