Scott Bearden
Scott Bearden, baritone, sings the role of Mr. J.J. Peachum in the The Threepenny Opera. Previous roles with West Bay Opera include Scarpia (Tosca) and Marcello (La bohème). Most recently Mr. Bearden sang the title role in Rigoletto with Eugene Opera and Bayshore Lyric Opera, and the title role in Falstaff with Mississippi Opera and the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv. In the past year he has sung Tonio (Pagliacci) and Don Quixote (de Falla’s El retablo de Maese Pedro) for the Mendocino Music Festival, Scarpia with the Midland Symphony Orchestra (Michigan), and Tonio and the title role in Gianni Schicchi with Mississippi Opera. Upcoming performances include Renato (Un ballo in maschera) with Festival Opera, Michele (Il tabarro) in Tel Aviv, Germont (La traviata) with Mississippi Opera, and Marcello with the Midland Symphony. Mr. Bearden can be heard as the Vicar on the Vox Classics recording of Albert Herring and has released a solo recording of songs entitled A Piece of Art. Mr. Bearden served as a resident artist with Opera San José for two years, where he sang the title roles in Rigoletto and Falstaff (a role he also performed under the baton of Maestro Seiji Ozawa for the Tanglewood Music Festival’s 60th Anniversary), Dr. Dulcamara in (L’elisir d’amore), Marcello, Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Lescaut (Manon), and Sharpless (Madama Butterfly). He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and a Master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music.
