West Bay Opera
Joshua Benaim
Joshua Benaim makes his debut with West Bay Opera as Marcello.
He was born in New York and educated at Harvard University.
This season Mr. Benaim appears with Opera Illinois as Sharpless
and with Sarasota Opera as Manfredo in Italo Montemezzi's
L'amore dei tre re. Recent performances include
Il cosacco in Franco Alfano's Risurrezione with Teatro
Grattacielo in Alice Tully Hall, Figaro in Il barbiere di siviglia
with Operafestival di Roma and the Bronx Opera, and Malatesta in
Don Pasquale and Prince Ottokar in Der Freischütz
with the Bronx Opera.
Mr. Benaim recently completed apprenticeships with the Sarasota Opera,
covering the roles of Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor and Guglielmo
in Così fan tutte, and with Central City Opera
where he appeared in youth performances as Marcello and Professor Bhaer
in Mark Adamo's Little Women.
Mr. Benaim is a recent recipient of the Central City Apprentice Artist Award,
an Albanese-Puccini Foundation Encouragement Grant and the
Helen Jepson Dellera Memorial Scholarship.
