Christopher
Bengochea, tenor, makes his West Bay Opera debut singing the role of
Sir Edgardo Ravenswood in Lucia
di Lammermoor. Mr. Bengochea appeared as Ruggero
(La rondine) with the Opera Company of Brooklyn, and in the title
role in Ernani with da Corneto Opera, where he returns in June 2005 to sing
the title role in Don Carlo. With Rimrock Opera, he sang the roles of
Don
Ottavio
(Don Giovanni) and Eric (Alva Henderson, Nosferatu), a world premiere.
Other roles include Arturo (Lucia di Lammermoor) and Il Messegere (Aida)
with
Intermountain Opera, and Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana) with Townsend
Opera.
Mr. Bengochea has also appeared with Opera Idaho, Teatro Felice,
MCT Theater, New York Choral Society, Tigulio Opera Festival, Grace
Church Society,
and Caramoor Opera Festival. He won 3rd prize at the Internationale
Societa Concertistica vocal competition, was a Metropolitan Opera National
Council
Regional Winner, and was a young artist at the Caramoor Opera Festival.
In upcoming months, he debuts with Livermore Valley Opera (La traviata),
Pacific Repertory Opera (Tosca), and the Lewis and Clark Society (Poia).
