Richard Bogart
Richard Bogart, baritone, sings the role of Keeper in The Rake’s Progress. He has been a regular member of the West Bay Opera Chorus since 1992, appearing in nearly 30 productions. His other roles with the company include Yakusidé (Madama Butterfly), Pinellino (Gianni Schicchi), and Don Issachar and the Lion (Candide). Mr. Bogart has also sung with many other opera companies around the Bay Area, including Bay Shore Lyric Opera, Berkeley Opera, California Opera, Golden West Opera, The Ina Challis Ensemble, Jewish Festival Opera, and Russian Festival Opera. His operatic roles include Marullo (Rigoletto), Alessio (La sonnambula), the 2nd Citizen (Halévy, La juive), and the Speculator (Shostakovich, The Nose). With The Stanford Savoyards, he has appeared in several Gilbert and Sullivan roles in recent years: the Duke of Plaza-Toro (The Gondoliers), the Lord Chancellor (Iolanthe), and, most recently, Adam Goodheart (Ruddygore). He has been a member of the Stanford Symphonic Chorus for over 20 years. Mr. Bogart received his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his doctorate in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Cornell. He is a senior research scientist with the Solar Observatories Group at Stanford University.
