Julianne Booth, sings the role of the Governess in The
Queen of Spades. Previous roles with West Bay Opera
include Giovanna (Rigoletto)
and Flora Bervoix (La
traviata).
Ms. Booth has made many Bay Area appearances in opera and concert,
including most recently with the Berkeley Opera as Filipyevna (Eugene
Onegin), with San Francisco Opera as Zenka (Katya Kabanova),
Kosteinicka’s Aunt (Jenufa), and Effie (The
Ballad of Baby Doe),
and with North Bay Opera as Mama McCourt (The Ballad of Baby
Doe). As a tenured member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus
since 1987, she has also covered leading and comprimario roles
for the company. She has been alto soloist for the Contra Costa
Chorale, the San Francisco Bach Choir, the Berkeley Bach Cantata
Group, and many churches throughout the Bay Area. She recorded Hérodiade with
the San Francisco Opera for Sony Records and has appeared in nationally
broadcast television productions of H.M.S. Pinafore and A
Christmas Without Snow, and San Francisco Opera’s productions
of The Merry Widow, Turandot, L’Africaine,
and Mefistofele. |
