Mr. Boyd completed his studies at Westminster Choir College in December of 1993, and in March 1994 he made his debut with the Florentine Opera as Rodrigo in Verdi's Otello. Mr. Boyd has performed numerous roles with L'Opéra de Montréal, including Beppe in Pagliacci and Pong in Turandot. With Opera Festival of New Jersey Mr. Boyd has appeared as Fenton in Verdi's Falstaff and the Lyric Tenor in Postcard from Morocco by Dominick Argento. In L'Opéra de Montréal's production of Carlisle Floyd's Susannah he appeared in the role of Sam. While on tour with Atelier Lyrique de L'Opéra de Montréal Mr. Boyd performed the roles of Alfredo in La traviata and Rodolfo in La bohème. In Milwaukee, Mr. Boyd appeared in Florentine Opera's production of Die Entführung aus dem Serail in the role of Pedrillo. European appearances include the Broomhill Festival in England, where Mr. Boyd appeared as Narciso in Il turco in Italia. While with the Santa Fé Opera Apprentice Program, Mr. Boyd covered the role of Tamino in The Magic Flute, performed the role of the First Jew in Salome, and received an award from the National Federation of Music Clubs for his accomplishments as an Apprentice Singer. Mr. Boyd recorded the role of the Villager in Pagliacci, with Riccardo Muti and Luciano Pavarotti.
Recent concert appearances include a recital of Neapolitan songs and the song cycle On Wenlock Edge by Vaughn Williams with Festival Adriatico di Musica da Camera in Rotello, Italy. With I Musici de Montréal he performed Dies Natalis by Finzi and Les illuminations by Britten. With Orchestre Métropolitian du grand Montréal he was a soloist for Dvorak's Stabat Mater and with Philharmonia Baroque Handel's Messiah and Mozart's C-minor Mass. Future performances include a concert of selections from Gounod's Romeo et Juliette with Orchestre Metropolitan de Montréal (Nov. 2000). Concluding his year, he will sing Messiah in Princeton, New Jersey with Princeton Pro Musica (Dec. 2000). Mr. Boyd is currently preparing for his debut with Sarasota Opera, reprising the role of Fenton in their production of Falstaff (Jan. 2001).
