Christopher CampbellMr. Campbell continued his operatic training in apprenticeships with Michigan Opera Theater, Glimmerglass Opera and Opera Pacific, where he has returned frequently as a soloist. Highlights among his appearances with Opera Pacific include his debut as Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor with Met star Ruth Ann Swenson in the title role, and his appearance as William Marshall in Mark Blitzstein's Regina, opposite soprano Carol Neblett. Other career highlights include his debut at the Hollywood Bowl in Puccini's La bohème conducted by Maestro John Mauceri.
Mr. Campbell has worked with some of the world's finest conductors including Maestro Mauceri, Stewart Robertson, John DeMain, Christopher Larkin, Valery Ryvkin, Klaus Donath and Mark Flint, and he has shared the stage as a soloist with such distinguished colleagues as Catherine Malfitano, Justino Diaz and Vladimir Popov.
Mr. Campbell has performed with The New York City Opera National Company as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, . He has sung for Opera Pacific as William Marshall in Mark Blitzstein's Regina and Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor,. With Opera Santa Barbara he has appeared as Rodolfo in La bohème. He has also sung with West Bay Opera as Pinkerton, and appeared with Townsend Opera Players as Rodolfo. He sang with Palisades Symphony as Manrico in Il trovatore, and has appeared with Bay Shore Lyric Opera as Don José, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, and Pinkerton. With Long Beach Opera he portrayed the Tall Prisoner in Janacek's From the House of the Dead. Mr. Campbell has also appeared with Glimmerglass Opera, Opera Orchestra of Los Angeles, Pacific Repertory Opera, Inland Empire Symphony, the Merced Symphony, Pasadena Lyric Opera, Southland Opera, the Loma Linda Chamber Orchestra and the California Master Chorale. He has sung in concert at the Hollywood Bowl, Royce Hall at UCLA ,and the Crystal Cathedral. In the fall of 2003 Mr. Campbell will debut with Opera San José as Canio.
Mr. Campbell has done extensive work in oratorio, performing as soloist in works by Handel, Bach, Dubois, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Schubert and Beethoven. He has concertized throughout the United States, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxemburg, and France, and has appeared on both cable and commercial television as well as broadcasts on KPFK and KUSC radio programs in the Los Angeles area.
