Eugene Chan

Line

EugeneEugene Chan makes his West Bay Opera debut singing the role of Count Danilo Danilowitsch in The Merry Widow.

Mr. Chan’s operatic roles include the title role in Don Giovanni, Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Schaunard (La bohème), Ottone (L’incoronazione di Poppea), and Morales and Dancaïre (Carmen). Upcoming engagements include Schaunard with Music Academy of the West, a young artist residency with Seattle Opera, and a Carnegie Hall recital for the Marilyn Horne Foundation. He has been featured with orchestra in Brahms’ A German Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Copland’s Old American Songs, Vaughn Williams’ Songs of Travel, Fauré’s Requiem, and the west coast premiere of Rene Clausen’s Memorial.

Mr. Chan has received prizes in numerous competitions, scholarships, and awards, most notably: First Place and Audience Choice Winner in the Washington International Competition, Second Place in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Western Region Finals, Encouragement Award in the Marilyn Horne Foundation Competition, Special Judges Award from the Sullivan Foundation, national finalist in the Liederkranz and Houston Opera’s Eleanor McCollum Competitions, and international semi-finalist in the Young Concert Artists International Competition.
