Thayer Coburn
Tenor Thayer Coburn is returning to West Bay Opera for his second production
this year, having sung Tamino in The Magic Flute last season.
He recently graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music,
where he studied under Donald Stenberg and received his master's degree
in vocal performance. His roles there included Tom Rakewell in
The Rake's Progress, Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream,
and Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors.
During his undergraduate years at Stanford, where he studied with
Gregory Wait, he appeared as soloist with the Stanford Symphony and
Chamber Orchestra as well as the Stanford Chamber Chorale, and performed
the role of Ralph Rackstraw in H.M.S. Pinafore. Recently he also
performed the title role in BASOTI's Albert Herring.
Mr Coburn was a recipient of the 1996 Leni Fe Bland Young Artist Scholarship
and a 1997 Henry Holt Memorial Scholarship.
