Saundra DeAthos
Saundra DeAthos, soprano, sings the role of Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera. Ms. DeAthos made her West Bay Opera debut earlier this season, singing the title
role in Lucia
di Lammermoor.
During the last three years, Ms. DeAthos has
had a close relationship with the San Francisco Opera, where she was
a member of the company’s
Merola program and an Adler Fellow.
Ms. DeAthos made her San Francisco debut as Naiade (Ariadne auf Naxos). Other mainstage engagements include The Hen and The Jay (Janacek, The Cunning Little Vixen), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), and Sandman and Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel). Ms. DeAthos performed in several Showcase operas as Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Eternitá (La Calisto), and Emily (Toch, Edgar and Emily). As a Merola artist, she sang the roles of Adele (Die Fledermaus) and Despina (Così fan tutte).
Most recently, Ms. DeAthos sang with Virginia Opera as Valencienne (The Merry Widow). She has also appeared twice with Boston Lyric Opera, as Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Bekhetaten (Glass, Ahknaten). She has other credits with companies such as the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Opera North (New Hampshire), and DuPage Opera. Her upcoming engagements include Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and Adele (Die Fledermaus) with Sacramento Opera.
