Lori
Decter, soprano, makes her West Bay Opera debut as Donna Elvira
in Don
Giovanni. Ms. Decter has been a Principal Artist in Residence the
past three seasons at Opera San José. She has also performed the
roles of Alice Ford (Falstaff), Fiordiligi (Così fan
tutte), Pamina
(Die Zauberflöte),
Leonora (Il trovatore), Santuzza (Cavalleria
rusticana), and Rosalinde
(Die Fledermaus). After receiving her Bachelor of Music and Master
of Arts Degrees from the School of Music and Dance at San José State
University, Ms. Decter began her professional opera career at Opera San
José,
where she has also been heard as Clorinda (La Cenerentola) and
First Lady (Die Zauberflöte).
In 2003, Ms. Decter received an award of Education Development Funds from
the Metropolitan Opera National Council, which had also named her the Pacific
Region Winner and National Semi-finalist in 2001. She was also First Place
Winner of the 2000 Henry & Maria Holt Scholarship Auditions in Palo
Alto.
