Christopher Fernandez
Specializing in character roles, Mr. Fernandez has enjoyed success on the West Coast as Goro, Don Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro), and The Grand Inquisitor (Candide) with Festival Opera in Walnut Creek, and as Monsieur Triquet (Eugene Onegin), Sellem (The Rake’s Progress), Borsa (Rigoletto), Bardolfo (Falstaff), Goro, and Benvolio (Romeo and Juliette) with Opera San José. Other engagements include Emperor Altoum (Turandot) with Eugene Opera, and Monsieur Triquet with Pocket Opera. Equally at home on the operetta stage, Mr. Fernandez has performed the leading roles of Nanki-Poo (The Mikado), Danilo (The Merry Widow), Strephon (Iolanthe), and the title character in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld with Lyric Theatre of San José. His concert credits include Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. In his home state of New Mexico, Mr. Fernandez is a two-time award-winner from the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
