Last season Mr. Gendron made his acclaimed debut in the title role in Massenet's Werther with the Beijing Music Festival conducted by David Stern and as Hoffmann with Sarasota Opera as well as West Bay Opera. In addition Mr. Gendron was the featured singer on a live worldwide satellite broadcast of Christmas Eve celebrations at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montréal. During past seasons he has appeared as Camille in The Merry Widow with L'Opéra de Monte Carlo, returning there for the world premiere of Cécilia by Charles Chaynes.
Mr Gendron's credits also include Rodolfo with Dallas Opera; Des Grieux in Manon with Tulsa Opera and Palm Beach Opera; Roméo in Roméo et Juliette with Gold Coast Opera and Virginia Opera; Don José with Sakai Opera in Osaka, Japan as well as with the Renaissance Festival Opera and West Bay Opera; Werther with Pacific Opera Victoria; Gherman in Pique Dame (Central City Opera); and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte with Opera East of Nova Scotia.
Other recent engagements include performances with San Francisco Opera in Harvey Milk, Central City Opera in both The Magic Flute and Henry Mollicone's Face on the Barroom Floor, Salome with Opera Carolina, Pagliacci at Virginia Opera, and with L'Opéra Français de New York in Bizet's La jolie fille de Perth. Future engagements include the role of Cavaradossi in with Anchorage Opera.
On the concert stage, Mr. Gendron has performed Handel's Messiah at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco and with the Napa Symphony, and a concert revival of J. U. Voyer's 1929 Canadian grand opera L'Intendant Bigot in Québec. He has also performed the Mozart Requiem in Paris with L'Orchestre Symphonique de la Mer Noire and with the Choral Society in Montréal and the Napa Symphony. In addition, Mr. Gendron has toured Japan with an acclaimed recital of French repertoire.
A native of Québec City in Canada, now making his home in New York City, Mr. Gendron holds a Master's degree in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory. Special honors include the Montréal Award of the Canada Music Competition, and the "best interpretation" prize from the French Music Competition, also in Montréal.
