Roberto Perlas Gomez

Roberto Gomez returns to West Bay Opera as Don Andrès in La Périchole. Other roles with West Bay Opera include Schaunard (La bohème) and Renato (Un ballo in maschera). He regularly performs with many other West Coast companies such as San Diego Opera where he was seen as The Mandarin (Turandot), Morales (Carmen), Sagrestano (Tosca), Hunter (Rusalka) and Prince Yamadori (Madama Butterfly). Other recent appearances include roles at the Summer Nights at the Ford Festival, (Allazim in Zaide), the L.A. Music Theater Company, Scarpia (Tosca) at the Redlands Bowl, Silvio (Pagliacci) and Marcello (La bohème) with the Shanghai Opera. In December 1995, Mr. Gomez went to Manila to create the title role of Rizal in a world premiere celebrating the centennial of the Philippine national hero. As resident artist for one season at Opera San José, he sang the roles of Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Drosselmeier (Tale of the Nutcracker), Escamillo (Carmen), and Germont (La Traviata). He reprised the role of Germont at the Mendocino Festival in July 2000 and performed with Los Angeles Opera in the roles of Lorek (Fedora) and Benoit/Alcindoro in the company’s student matinées of La bohème.
