West Bay Opera
J. Wingate Greathouse
J. Wingate Greathouse returns to West Bay Opera in the role of Peter Quint
in The Turn of the Screw; he previously performed the title role in
Rossini's Count Ory. A San Francisco native, Greathouse is never
bored! In addition to his work as a singer and actor, he is a talented
composer, pianist, organist, and conductor. He maintains an active career
as a vocal soloist and has appeared with many Bay Area arts organizations,
including Masterworks Chorale, the San Francisco Choral Society, Sacramento
Opera, Pocket Opera, and the UC Berkeley Choral Ensembles. He is Director
of Music and organist at St. Francis Lutheran Church in San Francisco, and
was previously Director of Music at St. Ignatius Church. He regularly performs
with the improvisational troupe Pacific Playback Theatre, and as jazz pianist
in Bay Area venues. Recent performances have included Dirty Little
Showtunes at the New Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco,
Wittgenstein on Mars and 20/20 Blake with George Coates'
Performance Works, and Stravinsky's Cantata with Voci.
