Susan Halperin
Mezzo-soprano Susan Halperin is a Westchester County native and frequent
performer in opera and concerts in the New York metropolitan area. Recent
operatic appearances include
Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana with Regina Opera,
the Mother in Amahl & the Night Visitors with Riverside Opera,
Rebecca Nurse in The Crucible and Filipevna in Eugene Onegin with
Brandenburg Opera, and
Suzuki in Madama Butterfly with New York Opera Forum.
She has also performed
over a dozen roles ranging from Maddalena in Rigoletto to the
Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica with The Lyric Theatre,
and last season she made her debut
with the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players in Ruddigore,
covering the role of Dame Hannah.
As an oratorio soloist, Ms. Halperin has performed Beethoven's Mass in C and
Schubert's Mass in Eb, and was the cover mezzo-soprano soloist for the New
York Philharmonic in the American premiere of Lament to Yitzhak,
conducted by Kurt Masur.
A finalist in the 1998 San Francisco Opera Center Auditions, Ms. Halperin
holds a degree in Russian Studies from Yale University. She is thrilled to
be making her West Coast debut in West Bay Opera's Madama Butterfly.
