Jane Hammett

JaneJane Hammett, soprano, sings the role of Lucy Brown in The Threepenny Opera. Previous roles with West Bay Opera include Jenny Smith (The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw), Frasquita (Carmen), Adina (L'elisir d'amore), the title role in The Daughter of the Regiment, Olympia (The Tales of Hoffmann), and Rosina (The Barber of Seville).

Ms. Hammett has performed a variety of roles in opera, operetta and musical theatre, from Mozart’s Despina to Lloyd Webber’s Carlotta. Bay Area audiences will remember her award-winning performances for San Francisco’s Lamplighters, which include leading soprano roles in nearly the entire Gilbert and Sullivan canon, as well as Adele (Die Fledermaus), Lisa (Countess Maritza), Valencienne (The Merry Widow), and Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady). A regular with Pocket Opera, she has appeared as Olympia, Anna (The Merry Widow), Almirena (Rinaldo), Blondie (Yanked from the Harem), the Marchioness (King for a Day), and Eurydice (Orpheus in the Underworld). For nearly four years she performed in San Francisco  and cities across the U.S. in The Phantom of the Opera, including many performances as opera diva Carlotta Giudicelli.
