George Hernandez

George Hernandez, bass, has performed in La traviata, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Gianni Schicchi, The Magic Flute, La finta semplice, The Bridge of Sighs, and Il trovatore with opera companies around the San Francisco Bay Area. He has also sung with the San Francisco Opera Chorus in productions of Ruslan i Lyudmila, Lohengrin, Knyaz' Igor, and Götterdämmerung. He recently sang the bass solo and Pater Profundis in Mahler's Eighth Symphony with the Redwood Symphony. Mr. Hernandez received his Bachelor of Music degree in piano and choral conducting from the University of the Philippines in 1981. He moved to San Francisco and studied at San Francisco State University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, graduating from the Conservatory with a degree in Voice Performance in 1991. In 1988, he was awarded first place in the Abramowitsch Lieder Competition.
