Mark Hernandez

Mark Hernandez sings the role of Panatellas in La Périchole. Since 1990, Mark Hernandez has appeared in a dozen West Bay Opera productions, in roles such as Alfredo (La traviata), Beppe (Pagliacci), Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), and, most recently, Jack O’Brien (The Rise and Fall of Mahagonny). His numerous appearances with Donald Pippin’s Pocket Opera have included the Offenbach roles of Guido (The Cat that Turned Into a Woman), Fritz (The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein), and Cornarino (The Bridge of Sighs). He has also performed lead and supporting roles for Berkeley Opera and Sonoma City Opera. Most recently, he created the role of Javier Gonzalez in The Passion of Rita St. James, a new musical by David Conte and John Stirling Walker produced at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. An experienced educator, Mr. Hernandez has performed in-school opera education programs for several years, including those of San Francisco Opera, San Diego Opera, Young Audiences, and West Bay Opera.
