Shana Blake Hill
Ms. Hill was a Resident Artist at Los Angeles Opera and now appears regularly as a principal artist in roles including Mimì, Barbarina, Papagena. First Niece (Peter Grimes), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), and Rosalba (Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas). On tour with Los Angeles Opera at Finland’s Savonlinna Festival, she appeared as Zerlina (Don Giovanni). She has also appeared as a principal artist with Dayton Opera, Long Beach Opera, Santa Barbara Opera, San Luis Obispo’s Mozart Festival Opera, and Opera Nova. She has also been a featured solo artist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Florida Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and Fremont Symphony. Ms. Hill recorded the title track “The Mission” in the Paramount film The Sum of All Fears. Upcoming engagements include Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Berkeley Symphony under the baton of Kent Nagano, Beethoven’s Symphony #9 with Pasadena Symphony, and Bachianas brasileiras #5 with the Long Beach Symphony. Ms. Hill received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and her Master of Music from USC’s Thornton School of Music. Twice in the Los Angeles area Metropolitan Opera finals, she was a winner of an Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation Scholarship at USC, and won the USC Opera Award at her commencement.
