Sarah Helen Land
Mezzo-soprano Sarah Helen Land graduated from the Juilliard School this
past December with high honors and a Master's degree in Vocal Performance.
Originally from Rock Hill, S.C., her first operatic roles were sung at
Furman University, and included the Mother of Amahl in
Amahl and the Night Visitors and the Second Lady in
The Magic Flute. During her studies at Juilliard as a student of
Marlena Malas, she was featured in numerous main-stage orchestral performances,
including Le nozze di Figaro, The Rape of Lucretia, and
Albert Herring. Since then she has sung Suzuki in
Madama Butterfly for the San Francisco Opera Guild,
Bradamante in Handel's Alcina and the title role in Ravel's
L'enfant et les sortilèges at Chautauqua, and has also
performed in a number of concerts sponsored by the San Francisco Opera Center.
