Carla López-Speziale
In her native Mexico, Ms. López-Speziale has appeared with the Bellas Artes Opera in L’italiana in Algeri, Carmen (which she has also performed with Golden Gate Opera and will perform in China next fall), Candide, Orfeo ed Euridice, Die Walküre, and Götterdämmerung, among others. She sang in the Mexican première of Adamo’s Little Women, Weir’s The Consolations of Scholarship, and Dazzi’s En susurros los muertos. She also sang in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Utah Festival Opera, and Madama Butterfly with the New York City Opera National Company. Her appearances on the concert stage include performances with La Serenissima, Shanghai Philharmonic, and major orchestras in Mexico. Performances include Alexander Nevsky, Berlioz’s Romeo et Juliette, Rossini’s Stabat mater, Mahler’s Second Symphony and Des Knaben Wunderhorn, Messiah, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. A prize winner of competitions such as the Licia Albanese–Puccini Foundation, the Vincenzo Bellini Competition in Italy, the New York District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and the Carlo Morelli Competition, Ms. López-Speziale received her Bachelor of Music from the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico. As a Fulbright scholar, she received her Master and Doctor of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music.
