Percy Martinez

PercyPercy Martinez, tenor, made his West Bay Opera debut singing the role of the Chevalier des Grieux in Manon Lescaut.

Mr. Martinez has sung principal roles in Manon Lescaut, Madama Butterfly, Lucia di Lammermoor, La bohème, Faust, Idomeneo, andThe Merry Widow. Upcoming performances include the role of Jason in Milhaud’s Medée with Vertical Player Repertory and Riccardo (Un Ballo in Maschera) with Pacific Repertory Opera. In 2005, he participated in the Apprentice Program at Santa Fe Opera, where he sang the role of Anatol in scenes from Barber’s Vanessa, and was an Apprentice Artist in the Winter Festival at Sarasota Opera.

On the concert stage, Mr. Martinez has been a featured soloist in concert performances of Handel’s Messiah, Ariel Ramirez’ Misa Criolla and Navidad Nuestra, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and Saint-Saens’ Christmas Oratorio. An ardent lover of Latin-American music, especially from his native country Peru, he often performs piano arrangements of popular songs from Peru (valses, huayno, tondero), Argentina (tango), Mexico (mariachi), and from Spain (Zarzuela).

Mr. Martinez holds Performance and Teaching Diplomas from the Accademia Internazionale di Canto Città Pesaro, Italy, and a Performance Diploma from the Accademia del Teatro Città di Cagli, Italy.
