Harold Gray Meers

Line

HaroldHarold Gray Meers, tenor, sings the role of Macheath in The Threepenny Opera. Mr. Meers made his West Bay Opera debut earlier this sieason, singing the role of Sir Edgardo Ravenswood in Lucia di Lammermoor. Mr. Meers made his professional debut in 1997 with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis singing the role of Ferrando (Così fan tutte). He has performed a wide range of repertoire across the country, including the Young Collector (Previn, A Streetcar Named Desire) with New Orleans Opera, 1st Jew (Salome) with Glimmerglass Opera, and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) with Opera North in New Hampshire.

Mr. Meers was heard at Boston Lyric Opera as Simonson (Machover, Resurrection) and Pedrillo (The Abduction from the Seraglio). He returned to the Opera Theatre of St. Louis as Fritz (The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein) and Laertes (Hamlet). Other recent engagements include Cassio (Otello) with Opera Omaha; Gastone (La traviata), Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos), and Little Bat (Floyd, Susannah) with the Opera Company of Philadelphia; Ernesto (Don Pasquale) with Baltimore Opera; Ruiz (Il trovatore) and Novice (Billy Budd) with San Francisco Opera; and Camille (The Merry Widow) with Virginia Opera. Mr. Meers is active in concert and recital and can be heard on the Zephyr recording label as Count Verrada (Sousa, El Capitan).
