Mills

Erie Mills has performed to critical and popular acclaim
throughout the world,
dazzling audiences with her sparkling coloratura voice, captivating personality
and vivid
portrayal of roles. The major opera companies throughout the United States
and Europe
with whom she has appeared include the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla
Scala, Vienna
Staatsoper, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, English National
Opera,
New York City Opera, Montreal Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and Dallas
Opera. She is also an active concert artist and recitalist and has appeared
with
the orchestras of
Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles, St. Louis, San
Francisco, Houston, Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Montreal.
Ms. Mills was born in Granite City, Illinois. She began singing at an
early age,
and from 1967-1969 attended the National Music Camp at Interlochen,
Michigan. She holds
a Bachelor of Music degree from the College of Wooster, Ohio (1975).
and a Master of
Music degree from the University of Illinois (1977). A former member
of the Houston
Opera Studio (1977-79), she has studied with Dale Moore, Karl Trump
(Wooster), Grace Wilson (Illinois), Elena Nikolaidi. and Alan Bowers.
She resides in
northern California
with her husband, Dr. Thomas Rescigno, and their two cairn terriers,
Fermi and Joey.
In addition to her career as a performing artist, she is a teacher
and holds an academic
position on the music faculty of San José State University.
