Andrew Morgan
Andrew Morgan makes his debut with West Bay Opera in these performances.
He has appeared with numerous groups throughout the Bay Area, including
Chanticleer, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, the American Bach Soloists,
Magnificat, The Camerata Singers of Monterey, and the West Marin Music
Festival. On stage, Mr. Morgan recently appeared with
Bay Shore Lyric Opera as Ferrando in Mozart's Così fan tutte
for which he also served as stage director).
For Berkeley Opera, he has portrayed Spalanzani in
The Tales of Hoffmann,
Le Chevalier in Dialogues des Carmelites, Russ Vaughn in
Daughter of the Cabinet, and Monostatos in The Magic Flute.
He made his Sonoma City Opera debut in 1996, creating the roles of
Captain Frisbee/Bearflagger Merrit in their commissioned opera,
The Dreamers, by David Conte and Philip Littell.
In the spring of 1996, he made his stage-directorial debut with
Pocket Opera in a production of Gounod's
The Doctor in Spite of Himself. He has since directed two
Mozart operas for that company, Yanked from the Harem
and a new production of The Magic Flute
(set as a 50's sci-fi movie), as well as Verdi's Ernani.
His numerous on-stage appearances with Pocket Opera have included the
four servant roles The Tales of Hoffmann and King Ouf in
Chabrier's The Star. Other roles he has portrayed range from
Martin in The Tender Land to Mayor Upfold in Albert Herring.
Mr. Morgan holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from
Northern Illinois University and a Master of Music degree in
Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois.
