West Bay Opera
Richard Nickol
Mr. Nickol recently returned from the Pavarotti Gala Concert in Modena, Italy.
A graduate of the San Francisco Opera Merola Program and Western Opera Theater,
he sang the role of Rodolfo in La Bohème, a role he later
reprised with West Bay Opera. Other West Bay Opera credits include Alfredo
in La Traviata and Canio in Pagliacci. He has sung Pinkerton
in Madama Butterfly with both Utah Festival Opera and Fresno Lyric
Opera, where he also sang the role of Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana,
and performed with Berkeley Opera in the role of Nemorino in L'Elisir
d'Amore. In concert as well as musical theater he has performed
world-wide, in the roles of Jean Valjean in Le Miserables and Old
Deuteronomy in Cats. Mr. Nickol was a Metropolitan Opera finalist
as well as an N.A.T.S. winner. Other honors include the Dr. Dean Verhines
Award, the Rose Sherman Foundation Award, and this year's Pavarotti Competition
in Los Angeles.
