Bianca Showalter, soprano, makes her West Bay Opera debut singing
the role of Olga in The
Merry Widow.
Ms. Showalter has sung the roles of Cunegonde (Candide),
Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), and Madame
Armfeldt (A Little Night Music), among others. Her solo
concert roles include soprano in Britten’s Ceremony of
Carols, Mozart’s Requiem, and Orff’s Carmina
Burana. She has been the recipient of many awards including
regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions,
first place in the Redwood Empire NATS scholarship competition,
and an MTAC state convention honors recitalist. Upcoming engagements
include Violetta (La traviata) with Capitol Opera Sacramento
and covering the role of Constanze (Abduction from the Seraglio)
with Sonoma City Opera.
A graduate of Sonoma State University, she has
performed with Cinnabar Opera Theater, Sonoma County Choral Society,
Seattle’s Northwest Puppet Center, Goat Hall Productions/San
Francisco Cabaret Opera, Green Music Festival, Capitol Opera Sacramento,
and Kent Nagano’s Leather Factory Opera. |
