Marsha Sims, mezzo-soprano, makes her West Bay Opera debut singing
the role of Praskowia in The
Merry Widow.
As a member of the Opera San José Chorus, Ms. Sims sang
in Don Pasquale, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, The
Pearl Fishers, Die Fledermaus, and The Marriage
of Figaro. Other operatic roles performed include Angelica
(Suor Angelica) and Sister Blanche (Dialogues of the
Carmelites). With Lyric Theatre of San José she sang
the Voodoo Queen (Naughty Marietta), Prince Orestes (La
belle Helene), the Fairy Queen (Iolanthe), Louise
(La vie Parisienne), Dame Durden (Robinhood),
and Peep Bo (The Mikado). She has also sung lead roles
with The Lamplighters and Stanford Savoyards.
Ms. Sims is also a music director, songwriter, arranger, and photographer.
Recently, she was the Assistant Music Director for Lyric Theatre’s Iolanthe.
She has recorded a CD, Mediterranean Moods. By day, she
is the Manager of Creative Resources and a graphic artist for ManyOne
Networks. |
