Michael Strelo-Smith
Michael Strelo-Smith’s appearances with West Bay Opera include Damis (Tartuffe) and Sharpless (Madama Butterfly). With Bay Shore Lyric Opera, he has twice appeared as Sharpless, under the direction of legendary soprano Madame Licia Albanese. The Bay Area Summer Opera Theater Institute and the Boston Conservatory presented him as Horace Tabor (The Ballad of Baby Doe). He has been a guest soloist with Soli Deo Gloria, as well as the orchestras of UC Santa Cruz and The Boston Conservatory. The Bay Area native was the recipient of a study grant from the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation, semifinalist in the Loren L. Zachary Society, and national finalist in the Classical Productions vocal competition. Musical theater credits include Dickon (Secret Garden), Billy (Carousel), and Jack (Into the Woods). Future engagements include Charlie Brown (Snoopy!) with Morrisson Theater in Hayward, and Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) with Livermore Valley Opera.
