West Bay Opera
Marina Lucia Torres
Marina Lucia Torres, coloratura soprano, makes her West Bay Opera debut as
Olympia. She has performed locally with such companies as Festival Opera,
San Francisco Opera Guild, Pocket Opera, and The Townsend Opera Players.
Her many roles include Adina and Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore, Gilda in
Rigoletto, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and die Königin der Nacht
in Die Zauberflöte. She has appeared with Ohio Light Opera as
Kathie in The Student Prince and Laetitia in The Zoo.
Her oratorio repertoire includes Carmina Burana, Messiah, and
Lauda per la Natività del Signore, and she has
performed with Composers, Inc., singing works by Melissa Hui and Glen Glasow.
Equally comfortable in musical theater, Ms. Torres appeared as Marsinah in
Kismet, Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
(American Musical Theater of San Jose), and most recently as Guenevere in
Camelot with Sierra Repertory Theater.
A graduate of Stanford University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music,
Ms. Torres was a 1998 finalist in the
Rehfuss Singing Actor Awards sponsored by Orlando Opera and the recipient of
a Léni Fé Bland Foundation Grant and a
Philanthropic Ventures Bay Area Performing Arts Fellowship.
