Julia Ulehla

Line

Julia Ulehla, mezzo-soprano, makes her West Bay Opera debut singing the role of Second Lady in The Magic Flute.

Ms. Ulehla recently appeared as Mercédès (Carmen) with Golden Gate Opera and as Dorabella (Così fan tutte) with CMC Opera. Other roles include Giovanna and Maddalena (cover) (Rigoletto) with Bayshore Lyric Opera, First Witch (Dido and Aeneas) with Pocket Opera, Messaggiera (Monteverdi, Orfeo) with The Stanford Early Music Collegium, and Fosca (Sondheim, Passion), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), and the Abbess (Suor Angelica) with Eastman Opera Theater.

Recent oratorio appearances include performances with the San Francisco-based chamber choir, Volti, as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Copland’s In the Beginning, as well as soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang with the Stanford Symphonic Choir and Orchestra.

Ms. Ulehla holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a Master’s degree from The Eastman School of Music. Last year, she placed 2nd in the National Association of Teachers of Singing regional vocal competition.
