Megan Weston

Soprano Megan Weston recently was selected as a national finalist in the Lyric Opera of Chicago Center for American Artists Auditions. Last season she completed a residency with the 1996-97 San Diego Opera Ensemble, where she performed a variety of roles including Rosina in The Barber of Seville. This past summer, Miss Weston was the soprano soloist in a concert series with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she performed Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore and Zerlina in Don Giovanni for South Valley Opera. She has sung extensively with other companies, including Los Angeles Concert Opera, Aspen Music Festival, and Opera San José. A native of southern California, Miss Weston won Third Place in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Western Regional Auditions and was a national finalist in the Loren L. Zachary Society Competition for Young Singers. Next year she will perform the roles of Despina in Così fan tutte, Amore and Damigella in L'Incoronazione di Poppea, and Annina in La Traviata, and cover Juliette in Roméo et Juliette as a resident artist with Utah Opera. In June of 1998, Miss Weston will sing Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance for San Diego Comic Opera.
