Todd
Wilander, tenor, sings the title role in La
clemenza di Tito. Mr. Wilander made his West Bay Opera debut
last season singing the role of Don Ottavio in Don
Giovanni. Recent performances include Lysander (A Midsummer
Night’s Dream) at Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Don Ramiro (La
Cenerentola)
at Opera Saskatchewan, Molqi (The Death of Klinghoffer) at Brooklyn
Academy of Music, Percy (Anna Bolena) with Opera Orchestra of New
York, Rodolpho (Bolcom, A
View from the Bridge) at Portland Opera, Nanki-Poo (The Mikado)
with La Fenice and Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Fenton (Falstaff)
at Chautauqua Opera, and Eurimaco (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria)
at Glimmerglass Opera. He was recently engaged by San Francisco Opera
in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Saint François
d’Assise, The Mother of Us All, Die Zauberflöte,
and Kát’a Kabanová. During the 2002 season,
he sang over 10 roles at Deutsche Oper Berlin, and was a winner in Vienna’s
Belvedere Competition.
Mr. Wilander, originally from Arcadia, California, was a 2000 Metropolitan Opera National Council Grand Finals winner, and was engaged in the production of Prokofiev’s The Gambler. He received degrees from Northwestern University, the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory, and Cal State University, Los Angeles.
