Mezzo-soprano Ann Marie Wilcox is from Kent, Ohio, and is thrilled to be making her West Bay Opera debut in the title role of The Italian Girl in Algiers. Ann Marie has sung across the country in recitals, concerts, and on the opera stage. Most recently she performed Chausson's Chanson Perpetuelle in Utah Festival Opera's chamber music series, and was a soloist at the Henry Holt Memorial Concert. A lover of new music, Ms. Wilcox was a soloist for the world première of Sylvia Bordová's Detva, and was cast by the composer for the North Carolina première of Robert Ward's Lady Kate. Her varied list of roles includes the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Donna Ribalda in P.D.Q. Bach's The Stoned Guest, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Prince Charming in Massenet's Cendrillon, and Carmen.
