John Zuckerman
John Zuckerman, tenor, returns to his native California to make his West Bay Opera debut as Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia. Later in the 2004 season, Mr. Zuckerman will debut with Baltimore Opera as Second Jew (Salome) and Remendado (Carmen), and with the Baltimore Opera Studio as Dorvil (Rossini, La scala di seta). This summer he will debut with Caramoor as Le Prince Charmant (Viardot, Cendrillon). With Opera Company of Brooklyn, he has sung Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette), Prunier (La rondine), and Goro (Madama Butterfly). Other roles in his repertoire include Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Count Belfiore (Mozart, La finta giardiniera), and Quint (The Turn of the Screw). Mr. Zuckerman has sung with Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Tanglewood Music Center, Henry Street Chamber Opera, the Westfield Symphony, Ridgefield Opera, and Opera Northeast. He studied voice and composition at the University of Southern California and voice at the Manhattan School of Music, and lives in Brooklyn.
