A semi-staged performance of Donizetti’s hilarious spoof about the travails of an opera company trying to put on a show. The cast includes all the usual suspects: the prima donna, the stage mother (played by a baritone!), the singer’s agent, the tenor who can’t remember his words or his music, etc. In English and Italian—some of each! Piano and harpsichord accompaniment. |
