Michelle Allie Drever, soprano, returns returns to West Bay Opera to sing Amina in La sonnambula, her role debut. She made her company debut as Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) in February 2023. Recently, MS. Drever made her debut with Opera Birmingham as Anne Sullivan in Carla Lucero’s touch, an opera based on the life of Helen Keller. Additionally, she sang the title role in Tosca at Pocket Opera. With Pacific Opera Project, she sang the roles of the Queen of the Night (in the Nintendo-inspired version of The Magic Flute) and Le Feu/Le Rossignol (L'enfant et les sortilèges). Other credits include Violetta (La traviata), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Madre Maria (Lucero, Las tres mujeres de Jerusalén), and Rosalind's (Die Fledermaus) at companies such as Utah Lyric Opera, LA Opera, and Miami Lyric Opera. She will reign as the Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte) once again later this spring at Opera Mississippi. Ms. Drever holds a master’s degree in vocal performance from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music where she created the role of La Condesa (Lucero, Juana). An alumna of the Renata Scotto Opera Academy under the direction of the late Renata Scotto, Ms.Drever will make her debut as a solo recording artist on Parma Recordings later this year, which will be distributed internationally by Navona Records on streaming platforms and compact discs everywhere. She is a finalist of the Premiere Opera Foundation, SAS, and National Opera Association vocal competitions. A native of Northern California, Ms. Drever currently resides in Los Angeles.
Chris Mosz,
tenor, makes his West Bay Opera debut singing Elvino in
La sonnambula. Mr. Mosz has recently been seen performing with both Livermore Valley Opera and Wexford Festival Opera as Tonio in
La fille du régiment. This coming spring he will take the stage as Tonio again with Opera Santa Barbara. Last season at Central City Opera Mr. Mosz sang the role of Frederic in Pirates of Panzance. In prior CCO seasons Mr. Mosz has been seen as Damon in
Acis and Galatea, and covered the roles of Squeak and Novice in
Billy Budd. Chris graduated from the Royal College of Music in London with honors. During his time in the UK Mr. Mosz performed the roles of Ernesto in
Don Pasquale, the Witch in
Hänsel und Gretel, and Bill in
Flight. Throughout his career and training Mr. Mosz has been seen in roles such as Fenton in
Falstaff, Ferrando in
Così fan tutte, Sam Kaplan in
Street Scene, Rinuccio in
Gianni Schicchi, and George Gibbs in
Our Town.

Casey Germain, bass-baritone, returns to West Bay Opera to sing Count Rodolfo in La sonnambula. He made his company debut last season as Juan Perón in Corpus Evita. Most recently, Casey sang The King of Egypt in Aida with Finger Lakes Opera and Elder Ott in Susannah with Opera Theater of St. Louis. He has also appeared in opera productions with Bel Cantanti Opera, University of Maryland, and New England Conservatory. Casey has performed the roles of Capellio in Bellini’s I Capuleti ed i Montecchi, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Gus O’Neil in Later the Same Evening, King Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Littore in L'incoronazione di Poppea, the Jailer in Tosca, and Colline in La bohème. Mr. Germain received his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory and Master of Music in Opera from the University of Maryland.

Shawnette Sulker, soprano, returns to West Bay Opera to sing the role of Lisa in La sonnambula. She recently sang leading roles in Opera Paralèlle’s double bill (Birds & Balls) and Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea) with Opera Montana. Recent concert engagements include performances with the Poulenc Trio and Oakland Ballet. She’s sung with San Francisco Opera, American Bach Soloists, Mark Morris Dance Group, Hawaii Opera Theatre, Opera Idaho, Eugene Symphony, and Winston-Salem Symphony, to name a few. Upcoming engagements feature the world premiere of the one-woman opera Never Mind (B. Bernstein), Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with UC Davis Symphony Orchestra, and another collaboration with the Poulenc Trio.

Courtney Miller,
mezzo-soprano, makes her West Bay Opera debut singing the role of Teresa in
La sonnambula.
This fall she returned to San Francisco Opera as Warren's Wife in The Handmaid’s Tale, after making her debut with the company as Sister St. Charles in Dialogues des Carmélites in 2022. Also this season, she made role and company debuts with: Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera as Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, San Francisco Choral Society as the Alto Soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and UC Berkeley Chamber Chorus as the Alto Soloist in Ratcliff’s Ode to Common Things. Additional opera highlights include Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia) Opera San José, Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Mercédès (Carmen) Florida Grand Opera; Hannah (The Passenger) Detroit Opera; Meg (Little Women) Madison Opera; and the title role in Carmen aboard Azamara Club Cruises. Michael Orlinsky, baritone/tenor returns to West Bay opera to sing Alessio in La sonnambula. He previously appeared as Zio Bonzo (Madama Butterfly) and Bardolfo (Falstaff). With the Opera In The Schools Program, he appeared as Papageno (The Magic Flute), and Bartolo (The Barber of Seville). His most recent performances have been with Contemporary Opera Marin in the role of Sam in Trouble in Tahiti, and Marin Oratorio singing the tenor in Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio. He has performed over 60 roles, with companies in Las Vegas, Chicago, and the Bay Area; including West Edge Opera, Livermore Valley Opera (LVO), West Bay Opera, Opera San Jose, Solo Opera, Island City Opera, the San Francisco Opera Guild (SFOG), The Lamplighters, Opera Cultura, Berkeley Chamber Opera, Pocket Opera and more. He has enjoyed singing such roles as Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Ford (Falstaff), and others. Michael works often with new music as a composer and performer in classical, and contemporary styles. Movements from his Reqiuem will be premiered in early November by the San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra.

Arthur Wu, tenor, returns to West Bay Opera to sing the role of the Notary in La sonnambula. He made his company debut as principal singer in the role of Goro in Madama Butterfly last season. He also sang in the ghost chorus of Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer. With the COSI summer opera program in Sulmona Italy, Arthur understudied Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore). He sang with the West Bay Opera Chorus in the 2016 production of Madama Butterfly and he has also sung with Opera San Jose chorus in Moby Dick. Arthur lives in Carmel, California and has a bachelor of arts from the University of California in Santa Barbara. Off the stage, he has worked with I cantori di Carmel as a soloist performing Hadyn’s Mass in B flat minor and Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem. For a few years as choir director at st. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in Carmel Valley, he often sang arias from oratorios such as Handel’s Messiah, J.S. Bach’s Magnificat, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. This summer he also sang with the Carmel Bach festival chorus.
